A sign is one of the zodiac’s twelve 30° sectors. Its name does not refer to a constellation with identical boundaries.

Sun sign, Moon sign and rising sign are different data. General dates are approximate and need calculation close to a sign change.
How to read it
Symbols work in combination: a sign modifies a function and belongs to an element and modality. That combination provides more context than an isolated label.
A concrete example
A person can have Sun in Aries and Moon in Taurus: these are simultaneous positions. It does not mean their Sun occupies two signs.
