Clairvoyance arts
Clairvoyance arts (in Spanish videncia) is the ability to perceive information about distant, hidden or future events through extrasensory faculties. In a broad sense, it designates the set of divinatory practices — tarot, divination arts, oracles, regressions, energy reading — exercised by people with developed psychic sensitivity.
Origin and etymology
"Videncia" derives from the Latin verb videre ("to see"). Literally it means "act of seeing", but in esoteric use it refers to "seeing what is not seen with physical eyes". The practice is universal: in every culture there are figures specialised in capturing the invisible — shamans, oracles, prophets, witches, diviners, modern professional psychics. The social function of these figures has always been the same: to consult them for orientation that ordinary knowledge could not give.
In the Hispanic tradition, "videncia" has a specific cultural nuance: it is associated with the cartomancer, the gypsy fortune-teller, the professional tarot reader. It is a more popular term than "clairvoyance" (which refers specifically to visual perception). A psychic does not necessarily "see" in the literal sense: they may "know" intuitively, capture bodily energies, read in cards, receive messages from their guides.
Modalities of psychic work
Professional psychics usually specialise in one or several techniques: cartomancy (tarot or other deck reading), palmistry (reading the hand), tasseography (reading coffee grounds), radiesthesia (use of the pendulum), mediumship (communication with spirits), auric vision (perception of the energy field), past-life regressions. Each technique has its tradition, its rules and its typical hits.
In some cases, the practice is exercised with a natural gift (the person perceives without having consciously trained, often since childhood). In others, it is developed skill with years of practice, meditation and study. Both forms can be legitimate, although natural psychic ability without training can be chaotic at first: developing the gift includes also learning to filter, not to exhaust oneself, to interpret correctly.
Good and bad psychics
Marks of a serious psychic: does not frighten, does not pressure for additional magical services, empowers you instead of making you dependent, admits not knowing everything, speaks in terms of tendencies and advice rather than closed claims. Marks of a fraudulent psychic: uses fear, offers expensive urgent "cleansings", makes impossible claims ("your husband is cheating with that specific woman"), discourages second opinions. Authentic psychic work guides; fraudulent work manipulates.
