How it works

We use the contemporary Transit and Essence approach described by Hans Decoz, with Latin letters valued from 1 to 9 and durations counted from age zero. Separate name parts repeat independently. Without additional given names, the mental and spiritual line is grouped and its surname value is counted once in our sum. Accents, spaces, apostrophes and hyphens are normalised; unsupported scripts are rejected. Essence keeps 11 and 22. A 29 February birthday uses 28 February in non-leap years.

What it is for

This calculator turns the successive letters of your birth name into a timeline. It shows which letter belongs to each part of the name at a selected age, its duration and the combined Essence number. The result helps you compare stages instead of reducing the whole name to one permanent label.

How to use it

Enter your birth date and separate the main given name, any additional given names and the surname or surnames. Keep compound names together in the field that fits them. Choose the starting age to display ten years, up to age 120. You can then select a year in the result to see its details.

Reading your result

The displayed compound is the sum of the active letter values, followed by its reduced Essence. The timeline keeps exact birthday boundaries. Each active letter has its own interpretation, alongside the combined theme. Save the full ten-year window and add notes about what you notice; these symbolic cycles do not predict events.
