Discover your numerology shadow number. The hidden aspect of your personality you must integrate in order to evolve.

Your Shadow Number reveals the hidden aspect of your numerology: the unconscious tendencies, the patterns you act out without realising, the traps you fall into when your guard is down. Every number from 1 to 9 has its light and its shadow; knowing yours means gaining awareness of the patterns that sabotage what you want most. This app calculates your shadow number and describes your blind spots.

What is the Shadow Number?

In deep numerology — influenced by Jungian thought — every archetypal number has a polarity: a luminous expression (its virtues) and a shadow (its exaggerated flaws). The shadow number is calculated with specific techniques combining your birth date and name, and reveals which archetype is in shadow in your life: where you project your unintegrated aspects.

The Jungian shadow is what you reject about yourself, what you don't want to see. And as the unconscious works, what you don't integrate you project: you see it in others and it makes you uncomfortable. If your shadow is the number 8, you may feel intensely uncomfortable around ambitious people (because you are suppressing that tendency and judging it). Knowing your shadow number is the first step towards integration.

The Shadows of Each Number

Shadow 1: ego, domination, not listening. Shadow 2: dependency, victimhood, submission. Shadow 3: superficiality, scattered energy, talking without depth. Shadow 4: rigidity, fear of change, control. Shadow 5: escapism, excess, irresponsibility.

Shadow 6: unhealthy self-sacrifice, controlling "out of love", guilt-tripping. Shadow 7: isolation, intellectual arrogance, coldness. Shadow 8: greed, materialism, abuse of power. Shadow 9: self-aggrandisement, compulsive saviour complex, idealistic evasion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the shadow something bad?
No, it is an inevitable part of the psyche. As Jung said: "the gold is in the shadow". The shadow contains repressed forces that, consciously integrated, bring vitality and authenticity. If your shadow is 8 (repressed ambition), integrating it means allowing yourself healthy ambition — not being dominated by it. An integrated shadow stops sabotaging; a denied one always will.
How do I work with my shadow?
First, recognise it without judgement. If your shadow is 6, observe when you control "out of love", when you blame others with a soft touch. Second, conscious integration: invite the qualities of that archetype in their healthy version. For shadow 6: giving love without smothering, caring without losing yourself. Third, therapy or deep inner work when the shadow is persistent. The shadow is not overcome by willpower alone, but by awareness and time.
Why do I project my shadow onto others?
Because the psyche does not allow us to see what we are not yet ready to accept. If you repress ambition (shadow 8), you cannot see your own ambition — but you see it intensely in others, and it bothers you. That disproportionate irritation with someone is usually a sign of projection. What irritates you most in others is often your own shadow.
Does my shadow coincide with my destiny number?
Sometimes. If your life path is 7 (inner seeking) and your shadow is also 7 (isolation), your path demands that you immerse yourself in the search while the shadow pushes you toward self-destructive withdrawal. Recognising this allows you to walk the path without falling into its shadow. Other times the destiny and shadow are different numbers; each carries its own work.
