Stars from NASA HEASARC’s BSC5P catalogue down to magnitude 4.5, plus figure-link stars. Proper motion, precession and nutation are applied. Planets are calculated for the observer. Geometric sea-level horizon, without terrain or refraction; constellation figures are our own schematic drawings.

What it is for

Recreate the sky above a place and moment’s horizon. The map centre is the zenith; its edge is the horizon. This astronomical keepsake differs from an astrological chart: it shows actual directions and altitudes without interpreting your destiny.

How to use it

Enter date, time and city. Explicitly mark an approximate time; none will be chosen for you. Then rotate the map and highlight one of sixteen included constellation figures. Your optional name appears on the keepsake only if you enter it.

Reading your result

Being above the horizon does not guarantee naked-eye visibility: sunlight, moonlight, clouds and city lights matter. The map notes daylight or twilight. Lines join stars that may lie at very different distances; they are not connected objects in space.
