✦ Prepare your experience

How do you talk to yourself when something goes wrong?

Recognise your inner response to mistakes and prepare a more useful sentence.

Prepare your experience

How it works

Twelve original questions each offer four responses: generalising a setback, dismissing its emotional impact, demanding perfection or making a specific adjustment. One point goes to the chosen response. Ties remain visible. This is a self-reflection exercise, not a validated psychological scale or diagnosis.

Use this result as a symbolic or reflective prompt, in the context of your own situation.

Recognise your inner response to mistakes and prepare a more useful sentence.

What it is for

The way you describe a mistake to yourself can differ from the way you would describe it to a friend. This exercise explores twelve ordinary situations, then shows which responses recur in your answers. It finishes with a sentence you can rewrite in your own words.

How to use it

Choose the response closest to what you usually tell yourself, even when none fits perfectly. You can move backwards and change an answer. After the result, choose an example phrase, edit it if needed and write a fairer alternative that still acknowledges what happened.

Reading your result

The counts describe your choices in this exercise. Mixed results are allowed, and the examples behind each pattern are shown so you can judge whether the reading fits. Keep what is useful, adjust the suggested wording and save it together with your answers.
