Life path number

Origin and calculation

The life path number comes from Pythagorean numerology, a system attributed to the philosopher and mathematician Pythagoras (6th century BC). Although the direct attribution is legendary, the modern numerological system was developed in the 19th-20th centuries from Western esoteric traditions that synthesised Pythagoras, Hebrew Kabbalah and Hermetic philosophy.

The calculation is simple: add all the digits of your complete date of birth (day + month + year) and reduce until obtaining a single digit (or a master number 11, 22 or 33, which do not reduce). Example: born on 17 March 1985 → 1+7+3+1+9+8+5 = 34 → 3+4 = 7. Their life path number is 7.

The life paths

Path 1: leadership, initiating, creating from zero. Path 2: cooperation, mediation, partnership. Path 3: creative expression, communication, joy. Path 4: construction, discipline, leaving material legacy. Path 5: change, freedom, exploration. Path 6: love, family, service.

Path 7: knowledge, spirituality, inner search. Path 8: material power, ambition, prosperity. Path 9: humanitarianism, closure of cycles, transcendence. Masters 11, 22, 33: especially demanding paths with great-impact vocation. Each path has its light (natural vocation) and its shadow (typical traps the path proposes as test).

How to use it

The life path number marks your archetype of learning: the lessons you need to walk in this life, the typical challenges. It is not fixed destiny (you are not obliged to be one specific thing), but the field is marked. A Path 7 may be a monk, researcher, scientist or philosopher: all in the archetype of search and depth. A Path 8 may be entrepreneur, banker or leader: all in the archetype of material power. Knowing your path helps align your life with your deep vocation.
